dune (archived)

A close cousin of the FURROW series, DUNE represents a sequence of subtractive operations in solid wood to create functionally sculpted surfaces and depth.

As the surface rises and falls in both directions, continuous and linear troughs are formed that share the dimensions of a typical wine bottle. When rested in the valley, each vessel is supported laterally by the rising waves on either side.

DUNE allows up to 6 bottles to be stored and displayed by providing a solid base for pyramid stacking; 3 bottles on the base support 2 more on the next layer, which in turn support a final bottle at the peak.
